Partial Crowns in Our Folsom Clinic
If you need an inlay or onlay, you may also hear Dr. Gregory Borrowdale or his staff refer to them as partial crowns. He chooses to use one of these treatments when at least some of your tooth enamel is still healthy. The inlay or onlay helps to increase the strength of your tooth so you are able to preserve it. It also helps to guard against future infections and other problems that threaten your oral health. Inlays and onlays are typically constructed from porcelain, gold, or composite metal. We will determine which material will work best for you at your initial consultation.
Dr. Borrowdale chooses an inlay when the cusps of your teeth are not yet damaged. He places the inlay between these cusps for maximum protection. When you have more significant damage to the structure of your tooth, he places an onlay. For this type of restoration, he places the onlay over one or more of your tooth cusps.
Inlays and onlays are a simple and inexpensive alternative to crowns, bridges, and other more high-end dental restorations. Please contact us with additional questions or to schedule an appointment.
